I just heard about this, but was not sure if it was true or not!! But it is!! :D

I wont be able to meet you all during your meet, as I will be extremely close to my due date!! But hopefully there will be some tickets left near the end of the run!!

It sounds a very powerful play, I might have to find a copy of it to read - prior warning of the sad parts and all that!!

Well, that's a good excuse for missing out on Ben
Unfortunately I probably won't be able to go there either. There is a very very very slim chance I can go to London during the Christmas holidays, but I'll only know that for sure in a few month's time. And then of course there still have to be tickets left :?

I was searching today as well. And for a chance my local tiny library has it! (it's a miracle! *bow1 ) They can even get it in English from another library (I don't like reading in Dutch lately). Hallelujah! Now just wait for a bit till I have time to read non-uni related books. :)

Which was the name of that movie Sam Worthington shot? :)

Yea it was very exciting he was about 10feet in front of me twice that Monday and Thursday. Now if it was Ben that close I would have to go over and have a
conversation with him. He sounds like a very nice and not stuck up kind of a guy. The name of the movie is The Fields.

Please stay on topic.

I just bought the book and can see Ben in it They even described him and I read an article that they try to make a movie of it but it didn't go through. So now they are doing a play version of it and maybe later try again for a film version. I can see Ben play this part, and would love to see it on stage and so far the book is very good. I couldn't put it down. I hope they some day make a movie of it and Ben gets the part. Whenever you girls go to see this please let us know how he did.

Thats so awesome. I'm gonna start reading the book soon. I had thought of them possibly making a movie in the future. I think it would do very well. After all, they end up making a movie for History Boys, not with the same cast obviously, but still... it's a possibility that they can do the same for Songbird... with the same cast as on stage *brow

I'd love to go see him on stage. But I don't think i'd be able to :'(

Hope people who are going will provide the rest of us with a detailed review afterwards?

I often go to London before Christmas, but as I´m off to Spain next month I don´t think I´ll be able to pull off a fifth trip abroad this year... :(

Yep, like what Santy said, to those who are able to go, it'll be wonderful if you give us reports about the play! :D

@ Santy: I like what you wrote on your website!!

Here's some more news about Birdsong:

Ben Barnes joined by full Birdsong cast

Nicholas Farrell, Iain Mitchell, Genevieve O’Reilly and Lee Ross have joined the previously announced Ben Barnes in the forthcoming stage adaptation of Sebastian Faulks’s novel Birdsong, which opens at the Comedy theatre in September.

The full cast of the Trevor Nunn-directed show also includes Owain Arthur, Billy Carter, Florence Hall, Paul Hawkyard, Gregg Lowe, Joe Coen, Jack Hawkins, James Staddon, Annabel Topham and Zoe Waites.

Published in 1993, Birdsong has sold more than two million copies in the UK alone and three million worldwide. It tells the story of Stephen Wraysford (Barnes) who, while staying as a guest of a factory owner in pre-First World War France, embarks on a passionate affair with his wife, Isabelle (O’Reilly). Years later, Stephen returns to the same part of France under very different circumstances, as a soldier during the Battle Of The Somme. As his men die around him, he turns to his enduring love for Isabelle for the strength to continue.

O’Reilly may be best known for her long-running role as Sarah Caulfield in BBC spy series Spooks, though her theatre credits include The Weir (Gate theatre, Dublin) and Richard II (Old Vic). Ross is also a well known television face, having enjoyed regular stints in EastEnders, Ashes To Ashes, Life On Mars and The Catherine Tate Show. On stage he has appeared in Whipping It Up (Ambassadors theatre), Some Voices and Country Music (both Royal Court).

Birdsong reunites Farrell and Mitchell, who appeared together in David Hare’s Stuff Happens at the National Theatre. Mitchell is a regular at the South bank venue, where he has appeared in productions including His Dark Materials, Edmond and The Madness Of George III, though he was most recently seen in the highly-acclaimed revival of La Cage Aux Folles. Farrell, who made his film debut in Chariots Of Fire, has an extensive stage CV including work with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Old Vic and Royal Court.

Barnes, who was revealed as the show’s lead earlier this year, is best known for his big screen work, having played the title roles in both Prince Caspian and Dorian Gray. He will return to cinema screens as Prince Caspian later this year when The Voyage Of The Dawntreader is released in December.

The Comedy theatre is currently home to La Bête, a comedy about a princess, a high-minded classical dramatist and a lowly street clown. It stars Joanna Lumley, former Frasier star David Hyde Pierce and the multi award-winning Mark Rylance, and runs until 4 September.

It'll be very amazing if we had all the chance to see Ben on stage!! :D :D
