Hey guys! New member here (not a new fan though!) hope I'm not too late to the party! Just wanted to say I think this film looks so awesome, the pictures made me crack up - I love how Ben's confident and dedicated enough to do such scary things to his hair! I so wish I lived in Ireland so I could get involved...

I was wondering, have any of you read the book it's based on, and if so would you recommend it?

Oh, and I was browsing Neil McCormick's twitter page before and I spotted these new tweets. Thought you might be interested:

Quote:
@steelsheen less cameo, more fleeting glimpse, I suspect. Its a kind of all hands on deck approach to casting, any strays get roped in.

Another day on set, watching my younger self playing a gig. If only I knew then what I know now. Like when to quit.

Quote:
Greeted on the set by actors: "Hey, Real Neil!". This is my new name.

That last one in particular made me howl with laughter! Real Neil's such a funny guy.

yes "Real Neil" is a very cool guy :) every bit as cool as Neil's Doppleganger ;)

ooohhh looks like he answered me again *jump2 hope his part doesnt end up on the cutting room floor, that would just suck. but then again thats the story of his life isnt it? ;)

its cool that Nick Hamm and the producers are allowing him to be onset. once filming commences, most directors dont care about screenwriters much less than authors of the source material of the movie its based on.

as for the Neil's book, yes indeed i highly recommend it! not only is it hilarious, but its inspiring. yes it is about a guy who missed the proverbial boat, but theres so much to learn about the realities of life without making you feel miserable or overly sentimental. one of Neil's gifts is he makes you think and realize the heavy stuff without feeling burdened or depressed by it. i recommend his book to anyone who can manage to read a book without pictures ;), to those who are successful in their lives, still struggling, or waiting to live it.

wee! more tweets *jump2

Quote:
neil_mccormick: Its so cold on the set in Belfast, I've nicked a horrible 80s coat from wardrobe. Fits with the general ambience of bad fashion.

Quote:
neil_mccormick: I'm having fashion flashbacks.

Quote:
neil_mccormick: Crew complaining about the cold. "Next time you write a book, set it arounds a swimming pool in Barbados."

*roll

Quote:
neil_mccormick: Silence on set. Shooting intense emotional scene. Then my phone bleeps. Everyone glares at me but I have the perfect defence: "It's Bono!"

oh yeah that is so forgivable is it? *rolf

Quote:
neil_mccormick: Switching off now. Shhh!

busted twice in a row! *finger *rolf if there's one thing about Neil other than not knowing when to quit, is that he couldnt take a hint. bless him, hope he stays that way

And Panda (great name btw!) *welcome

How I would love to be able to get to Belfast on Thursday!

I also read & enjoyed the book! I asked if it would be re-printed with a film tie-in cover, but I did not get a response....

aaaand its down to the wire. everybody gets treated the same way onset-- Real Neil, Neil's Doppleganger, xtras stuck in bad 80s fashion....

Quote:
neil_mccormick: Filming my old band Shook Up onstage. Getting late & tense. "It's shouty time," says make up artist. Director: "For the 35-thousandth time!"

Quote:
neil_mccormick: The director is hot focus of everything. 6 years it took to get here. Now he's got 6 weeks to catch it all. So he's allowed to shout.

Quote:
neil_mccormick: Spent all day watching movie getting made. Time for pizza and a movie somebody already made.

welcome to the Hollywood life Neil ;)

The tweets are brilliant! I'm definitely gonna have to check out the book.

I'm not on set today, I got a call asking me to be a "hero extra" on thursday instead. Think it means I get to stand at the front of the last big gig! I'm so excited I can't sleep! It's 5.40am and I've been awake since 4am - work is not gonna be fun today....
